I love a good sewalong! The lovely Giucygiuce hosted a bucket bag sew-a-long on IG and this was my entry!
I made it in the mini size, something the lovely Jenn Rossotti had done, so I followed her lead to make this small enough for Noi.
Ombre shades on chambray and denim really make the Alison Glass rainbow of flying geese POP!
The leather strap happened a bit by accident! The rope I had purchased was too big, so I improvised! It turned out perfect!

Swoon newest pattern is the Sandra saddle bag and I LOVE IT! I made two in 2 days which is a testament to how easily this bag comes together! The Sandra bag is part of the Vintage subscription that Swoon offers, which is a year long subscription where a new pattern is released each month. Sandra was June's bag.
I used some gorgeous Tula Pink Elizabeth on the exterior. Soft and Stable is used to help the bag keep it's shape. Have I confessed my love for Soft and Stable yet? It is wonderful. Love that stuff!
I added some light blue piping to the flap to add some extra ZING to her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth. I love how the piping adds just that little touch of something extra special. I used glitter vinyl for the bag's sides.
The interior is Cotton and Steel and it pairs really well with the Tula. The strap is fully adjustable so you can sling it over your shoulder or use as a cross body bag.
This bag is available in my Etsy shop, but I am so tempted to keep it! It is so pretty!

Since I just talked about how easy and quick Noodle Head's Runaround Bag was earlier this week, I thought it was only fitting to talk about the awesomeness that is the Caravan Tote.
During one of my recent weekly trips to Joann Fabric's, I noticed that the designer home decor fabric was 60% off and I was armed with a 20% off coupon. So I grabbed a few yards of the Nate Berkus fabrics. He really did a good job designing these fabrics and they are perfect for bags!
So I dove in head first to the Caravan Tote. I paired the Calypso print with some Robert Kauffman Essex Linen and got to work!
The bag came together so easily! I love the combination of the print with the linen and all the pockets! I added leather handles attached with rivets for some extra style points.
The bag has become my go to when making a trip anywhere and fits my iPad and several books, notepads and other accessories in it with ease. Such a roomy and versatile bag!
I have plans to make a few more of these for the shop! What an excellent pattern.

Back at Christmas I made a Noodle Head Run Around tote for my sister. She picked out the fabrics and I made the purse for her as a present. She loved it, till the magnetic snap I had installed decided to not unlatch and she ended up ripping the lining and the snap right out. Yikes.
So I promised to make her another bag, this time without the magnetic snap.
She chose the Lizzy House Cat Nap print that matches the quilt I made for her baby girl and I set to work!
This pattern is so easy and quick to sew. It took only a few hours in the afternoon. The hardest part is the bias trim, but after some practice you will be a pro at applying it and will be zipping thru bags!
I love how this one turned out. The print is just puuuuurfect for this bag and the cotton + steel metallic grey trim suited it nicely.
Have you made a Runaround Bag?

I stumbled upon Swoon Bag patterns via Instagram (gah! I know, surprise!) and they piqued my curiosity. I had never made a purse before, other than totes and wanted to give it a shot. So I dove right in and bought the Charlotte pattern and got to work.
I made the mistake of making my first bag with leather - and the bottom base leather piece was SUPER thick, but I made it work (after cursing and what not).
I certainly learned a lot making that bag! But she was a gift for my mother and she turned out lovely.
I added slip pockets to the interior for extra storage. After a few weeks, the stitching on the handles wore down and I replaced them with rivets to secure the handles. They seem to be holding up well now!
After that initial bag, I know I needed to make another one just for good measure.
This time I used Cotton + Steel and sparkle vinyl. I loved working with the sparkle vinyl. I found a super sharp MicroTec needle and a walking foot will do you well with vinyl. Love the way it turned out!
This was also the first time using piping, and while it took some practice, it's not that hard to conquer. I used pre-made piping because I ain't got time for makin' my own pipin'!
If you have been on the fence about trying this pattern or a Swoon pattern in general, you will not be disappointed. The patterns are well written and very clear. If you have any issues, you can jump on Facebook and ask any questions you might have!
