It always so fulfilling and joyous when a quilt top is finished. In fact, I have to say that peicing the top of a quilt is my favorite part of the quilt making process (OK, OK, choosing fabrics and patterns is tied with that position). My least favorite? I'm sure many will agree, Basting (if i'm quilting this myself) or piecing together a backing. Luckily this Yuma pattern by Gotham Quilt is one of those, I want to make a quilt but I want it done in less than 3 years from now, patterns. In fact, I made the quilt top in a week, and I have a reckless 16 month old running around, flinging fat quarters out of drawers and attempting to eat my fallen Wonder clips. Let's just say, nap time is awesome.
I talked about my plan and my fabrics in an earlier post - but I had plans to merge Anna Maria Horner's new Luminous line with Alison Glass, Lizzy House, Tula and some misc other prints. I am thrilled with the way it turned out!
The yellows are looking a little green in this shot, but they are sunshine bright! So much pretty!
This one shows off the yellow pop better. The luminous line was fun and easy to work with. No weird stretching or anything for me. It worked really well with the quilting cottons I used.
The Yuma pattern is all about triangles, and boy, triangles and I have a history. I love the look of triangles, I can just never get them to align perfectly. It frustrating for me, but I really wanted to make this pattern, so I powered thru. If you look carefully, not all my points are perfect, but whats a quilt without a few flaws? You can't tell from the photos, so it looks like it's pieced perfectly!
It's so pretty! I plan on leaving it square and the size that it is and backing it in lavender minky and it's going to have a permanent place on my couch!! Now how in the world should I quilt it?!?
Thank you Andrea and Ivete for such an awesome pattern!! You guys can get your copy here. And make sure to stop by thier online shop and pickup a few goodies for thier shop - you will not be disappointed!
