Dough. I had hoped to get over to Brooklyn while we were in town but that was not going to happen. Luckily they had a stand in Bryant Park!
Unfortunately they were out of the hibiscus donut so we ended up with a lemon + olive oil and a passion fruit. Jason had picked out the lemon + olive oil and I had originally picked the passion fruit but we ended up changing after tasting them.
It was much colder on Thursday but we ate in the park anyway. The doughnuts were FABULOUS. Much more bread like than standard Krispy Creme doughnuts I grew up with. SO YUMMY!
Lots of walking on Thursday! Plus meeting new pony friends. I was impressed [ as a professional horseman and former tour guide] at how well the horse's [from a sidewalk view] were cared for. Lots of water and even rain sheets and blankets when the temperature dropped.
Grand Central was awesome. Not too packed. We didn't hop a train. Maybe next time!
NY Public Library was AWESOME! We were in heaven with all the lion references! We ended up picking out a hand illustrated book and a poster as our take home souvenir; one of the only things we bought while we were in the city.
We dropped by the ACE Hotel for the photo booth which wasn't in great working order. We also grabbed a beer at the Breslin bar.
We walked all the way down to Greenwich Village where we had an incredibly fresh italian lunch at Cafe Pitti.
Delicious! If you are in the area, stop by. Just a word of advice: They only take CASH and they are very busy. Bring some patience. We ate in a tiny 2 person table literally shoved in the corner. We had to pull the table out from the wall just so I could SQUEEZE by to sit down. Totally worth it.
After lunch we headed to Big Gay Ice Cream Shop but they were closed. BOO. So next door we grabbed a few cupcakes from Butter Lane.
Hotel shot. Eating cupcakes in bed.
We were so stuffed after our late lunch that we headed to Serendipity 3 for a dessert dinner.
Frozen hot chocolate [which I have to say didn't really live up the hype, although it was good] and lemon ice box cake with hot tea. Perfect way to end the night. A word of advice about Serendipity 3: we waited 30 minutes min for a table and the staff wasn't very nice, in fact they seated another couple in front of us [who came in at least 20 min after we put our name down] and acted like it wasn't a big deal. I was none too pleased, Almost enough to leave and not come back.
After popping into Bloomingdale's after dinner we got a text message from Jason's friend and old roommate Adam. Turns out he was in the city as well and so we decided to meet up for drinks. How cool and random was that?!
